Sonia Deng, a native of Shenyang China, is a Boston educated versatile musician. After having studied in the Boston Conservatory under the guidance of Lynn Chang for her Bachelor of Music Diploma, Sonia attended Boston University for her Master of Music Diploma, studying under Lucia Lin from the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Since graduating in 2010, Sonia has been an active freelance musician and a teacher in the Boston area.

As an orchestral musician, Sonia is actively involved with the Orchestra of Indian Hill, Cape Cod Symphony, New Bedford Symphony Orchestra, Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra, Harvard Baroque Chamber Orchestra and Symphony New Hampshire. Sonia further refined her orchestral playing skills through music festivals such as the Lucerne Festival Academy, Castleton Music Festival, and Napa Valley Orchestral Institute. Through these opportunities, Sonia has collaborated with world-renowned musicians and celebrities such as Pierre Boulez, Peter Eotvos, Lorin Maazel, Denyce Graves, Helen Mirren, Jeremy Irons, etc.

As a chamber musician, Sonia is a founding member of The Voyages Piano Trio, performing concerts in the Boston area, bringing diverse styles of music to the audience. 2014 concert programs include Mendelssohn Piano Trio d Minor, Piazzolla Four Seasons, and Schoenfield Cafe Music.
